I've used a automation tool called "QMacro", which is a commercial software mostly used in game playing, and is the best in related products in China.
It's based on VBScript engine, and have many exciting features, like automatic recording, code wizard designer, hotkey supporting, script generating, .exe packeting, bla bla bla...

The official English site is here, :

Downlink is here:

The sceenshots are here:

It's in Chinese, but I think you can get what it is doing (the generated script has a RAW code in English).

I think the automatic recording is the highlight, it can help people to jump start. Hope this provides you some ideas :)
Excuse me apetrovskiy for disturbing today, because I'm involved today and like UIA so much :)

Update: I see Start-UIARecorder works like some QMacro's feature, but QMacro still has some highlights, like key pressing, mouse clicking, etc., for your information.

Thanks you for the info, VictorWoo. I'll learn the tool.

Thank you also for interesting questions: despite the fact that I'm myself a practitioner of UIA, I'm often forgetting thing written months ago :)
And the sample with two lists (one is empty) is exciting, I created a WinForms form and two lists, one is empy: the direct way (windows -> list -> list item) returns an error nobody could comprehend why. I'll be thinking how to make it more clear for the user. :)

Thank you apetrovskiy, for your patience. Though I'm not a practitioner of UIA, but I think it's a must-have tool for a geek ;-)
Study hard, and maybe it can save your life time in some day.
